The day I have been waiting for, for years!! Rafa Benitez, possibly the worst thing to happen to Liverpool in the last decade, has left the club.
Benitez was still whining about transfer funds, saying he needed a lot more to rebuild the club and bring in new players. Maybe he forgets that other than Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, every player of the current squad was bought under his reign.
There is no-one else to blame other than Benitez, who has just been named as Jose Mourinho’s replacement at Inter Milan. His transfer dealings have been shocking; over-paying for mediocre players like Dossena, Lucas, Aquilani, and selling better players such as Pennant and Alonso.
Now that he is out, Liverpool need to get rid of their current ‘owners’ and set about the long task of rebuilding the club. Let’s just hope they can hang on to players such as Gerrard and Fernando Torres, because if they go, Liverpool’s hike back up to the Premiership elite could take all the more longer.
