Merseyside Goalkeepers

After the last round of Premier League matches two Goalies stood above the rest and rescued some points for their teams.

Tim Howard was outstanding as ‘keeper for Everton, as the Toffees scored two injury-time goals to come back from 3-1 down against Manchester United, to snatch a unlikely draw against the 18-time champions. The game will most likely be remembered for Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta’s late strikes, but the American goalkeeper made some unbelievable saves in the first half to keep his side in it.

At Birmingham, Liverpool were completely dominated, and didn’t deserve to come away with anything. And they wouldn’t have, if it hadn’t been for Pepe Reina. The Spanish #2 made some absolutely World Class saves to deny the Birmingham strikers, eventually earning the Reds a nil-nil draw, and a valuable point.

Two games which highlighted the importance of excellent goalkeepers.
