Maybe not necessarily for the top spot, but in terms of how few points separate most of the other positions; There are only 6 points separating 4th and 12th position, and only another 6 points between 13th and 20th spot. As the consistent cliché goes; “there are no easy games in the Premiership.”
Chelsea demolished most teams, but lost 2-0 at Liverpool and, shockingly, 3-0 to Sunderland. Liverpool, in turn, defeated the Champions, but lost to lowly Blackpool. Arsenal hammered Blackpool and Bolton, but were beaten by newly promoted teams West Brom and Newcastle. Title-Chasers Man Utd were rampant against Newcastle and West Ham, but were frustrated with draws against Fulham, Bolton and West Brom.
No game is predictable, and nothing can be taken for granted. For me, this has greatly increased the enjoyability of watching the Barclays Premier League. There are now 7 or 8 genuine contenders for Champions League positions. As the season continues to heat up, I can’t wait for more twists, turns, shocks and surprises.
