The first came in the mouth-watering North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs at The Emirates.
The Arsenal dominated early proceedings and went in at halftime leading 2-0.
Spurs’ manager, Harry Redknapp, must have had some inspiring words to say at the break because the team came out completely transformed for the second half. Some great attacking play, coupled with excellent substitutions, saw Spurs draw the game level 2-2.
Even when they seemed on their way to earning a vital point, ol’ Harry wasn’t content to sit back and defend; he brought on the aerial threat of Peter Crouch. With only a few minutes to go Rafael van der Vaart swung in a deep freekick and Younes Kaboul leapt up to head home the winner – what a time for him to get his first goal for Tottenham.
It ended Spurs’ run of 68 games without winning an away game against any of the Top 4 clubs (their last being a 2-1 victory against Liverpool at Anfield back in1993). And it left Arsene Wenger infuriated (and throwing water bottles) on the bench.
It was Arsenal’s 3rd defeat of the season, but undoubtedly their most painful.
